Richmond Community Works (RCW) offers a wide range of exciting musical performances and artistic exhibitions. From Balinese and Balkan to Brazilian and Arabic music, RCW’s concerts are sure to please. Music lovers can also enjoy contemporary music, Japanese Taiko Drama, German Masked Theater and the 4 Cellos concert featuring former Kronos Quartet member Joan Jeanrenaud. RCW also presents Hanayui performing traditional Japanese dance and music, as well as Will Durst’s New Year’s Eve comedy show. RCW's K Gallery features eight dynamic art exhibitions each year, giving artists a chance to interact with their viewing audience. Plus, visitors can attend the free weekly “Art Jam” to mingle and create art, artist lectures and workshops. The Alameda Civic Ballet is proud to be fostering the next generation of young ballet dancers in the East Bay. Abra Rudisill, Artistic Director of the Alameda Civic Ballet and the Alameda Ballet Academy, has over 20 years of experience as a Prima Ballerina and Ballet Mistress. Her experience in the classical ballet tradition has been invaluable in her role of providing quality ballet education to the youth of the East Bay. Founded in 2003, the Academy and company strive to bring the best elements of ballet to their students while also providing young dancers the opportunity to gain valuable experience performing alongside professional dancers, thus creating a bridge between professional dance and the community.

In 1992, Miss Michaela Lynch had a vision for a dance school that would bring together students of all ages and abilities. That dream became a reality with the introduction of the Dance Arts Project at Harbor Bay Club in Alameda. With 50 eager and enthusiastic dancers, the school was off to a great start. The success of the Dance Arts Project didn't go unnoticed. In July 1993, the school opened its grand doors on Chestnut Street, where it continues to offer classes in ballet, children's creative movement, modern dance and ballroom dance. Today, Dance Arts Project is proud to have served generations of students, and we are looking forward to many more years of bringing joy to the Bay Area through dance.

Nora is a Certified Master Teacher in Acrobatics by Dance Masters of America, Inc. and has trained her acro team for regional and national competition. In addition to teaching, Nora is an experienced performer. She’s had the opportunity to travel and perform internationally, at Disneyland, Disney World, the SF Giants opening day, and The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Most recently, she was featured in a 2006 Coca Cola commercial which aired during the NCAA Final Four basketball games and performed on stage with the late Bryant Cash-Welch. Nora is also certified in Early Childhood Education and has been teaching pre-school in Alameda for over 30 years. “Teacher Nora” is a well-respected and beloved figure in the community, and her students have learned a great deal from her over the years.

Jordan Best, Amy Marie Haven, and Tyler Null started Tomorrow Youth Repertory (TYR) in the summer of 2011. As an independent non-profit since 2012, TYR has been dedicated to providing an unparalleled youth theater experience for kids of all experience levels. With individual attention and a full theater experience, TYR has served hundreds of students in the Alameda, CA area with their weekly theater production classes every fall and spring. At these classes, kids not only have the opportunity to gain valuable life skills, but they also get to have fun and let their imaginations run wild. After 10 to 12 weeks, the kids put on a show for their friends and family, complete with lights, sets, and costumes. Then, during and just after World War II, the U.S. Maritime Service Officers School, used to train Merchant Marine commanders, was stationed here. Hālau Makana is proud to be the only Polynesian Dance Company in Alameda, California. They have been delighting audiences in the Bay Area with their colorful and energetic performances for many years now. Hālau Makana has been a part of numerous festivals in Alameda and the Bay Area, as well as many local events, such as corporate events, cultural festivals, private parties and community gatherings.
