As we start this Fall Semester 2021, we hope that everyone is safe and healthy. We want to extend our deepest sympathies to our beloved school founder, Mr. Alan Sheff, who sadly lost his wife of 48 years, Ronna, in March. We are thankful for Mr. Sheff’s courage and strength during this difficult time. We are also grateful for Sara Slocum for stepping in and managing the day-to-day operations of the school while Mr. Sheff was caring for Ronna. In memory of Ronna, Mr. Sheff is in the process of starting a dance scholarship in her name to honor her commitment to dance. We look forward to learning more about this scholarship in the future. We are also thrilled to announce that the school has relaxed its mask protocol for the Fall Semester. Masks will be required for unvaccinated students and parents, as the safety of our students and faculty is of utmost importance. In other exciting news, we’ve just completed our new Podcast Studio! Every Tuesday night, Jon Peckman will be hosting his weekly podcast, which will feature a variety of musical topics and interviews with our faculty and special guest artists. You can listen to the show at www.connvalley.net. Additionally, the studio is available for rent to anyone who wants to start their own podcasts.

After finding much success in his martial arts career, Grand Master Darren Woolridge decided to open his own Do-Jang in 1998 so that he may continue to pave the way for future martial artists. He has devoted his life to helping children, adolescents and adults by sharing his knowledge and experiences both inside and outside the Do-Jang. The world of martial arts influenced Sir in many positive ways. For Sir, martial arts is a Way of Life and for those who want to learn, it is his pleasure and honor to be your instructor. GateWay offers a variety of classes to help you find the balance between body and mind. Our experienced and passionate instructors provide classes ranging from Taiji (Tai Chi) Qigong (Chi Kung) to Gentle Yoga and meditation. Our class schedule includes online, in-person, and simulcast classes. Our Gentle and Chair Yoga classes offer a mindful exercise that is safe and gentle on your body. These classes provide a full body stretch and strengthening workout, while still maintaining an “easy” and “gentle” atmosphere. We also have advanced classes such as the Fighting Set which explores the martial intent of the Taijiquan form, and is an interlocked pattern between two players. This class is ideal for those with previous experience in Taijiquan and are looking for a challenge.
