He sports a majestic mustache that could challenge any broomstick, a top hat with a personality of its own, and a pair of twinkling spectacles that seem to have an entire galaxy trapped inside them. He has a hearty laugh that sounds like a trumpet and a tiptoe that would put a cat burglar to shame. Sir Applause-a-Lot guides our brave actors through their lines, their moves, and their nerves, transforming them into whatever their hearts desire: gallant knights, crafty wizards, or even chattering squirrels. No matter how far-fetched or absurd, there's no limit to what they can become. Their performances are filled with giggles, gaffes, and grandeur that would make even the grumpiest of grizzly bears grin. So, if you ever spot a bunch of kids in California, gesticulating wildly and talking in funny accents, don't be surprised! Richmond Community Works (RCW) offers a wide range of exciting musical performances and artistic exhibitions. From Balinese and Balkan to Brazilian and Arabic music, RCW’s concerts are sure to please. Music lovers can also enjoy contemporary music, Japanese Taiko Drama, German Masked Theater and the 4 Cellos concert featuring former Kronos Quartet member Joan Jeanrenaud. RCW also presents Hanayui performing traditional Japanese dance and music, as well as Will Durst’s New Year’s Eve comedy show. RCW's K Gallery features eight dynamic art exhibitions each year, giving artists a chance to interact with their viewing audience. Plus, visitors can attend the free weekly “Art Jam” to mingle and create art, artist lectures and workshops. The gallery also offers a wide range of classes, family workshops and summer camps for adults and youth ages 6 to 13, covering such topics as drawing, painting, music, hoop-dance, belly dance, world drumming, instrument building and circus arts. Jordan Best, Amy Marie Haven, and Tyler Null started Tomorrow Youth Repertory (TYR) in the summer of 2011. As an independent non-profit since 2012, TYR has been dedicated to providing an unparalleled youth theater experience for kids of all experience levels. With individual attention and a full theater experience, TYR has served hundreds of students in the Alameda, CA area with their weekly theater production classes every fall and spring. At these classes, kids not only have the opportunity to gain valuable life skills, but they also get to have fun and let their imaginations run wild. After 10 to 12 weeks, the kids put on a show for their friends and family, complete with lights, sets, and costumes. This is a great way to keep kids both entertained and challenged, and TYR prides themselves on giving every student an amazing experience.
