Essex Art Center is a vibrant community of artists of all ages and backgrounds in Greater Lawrence. Our mission is to inspire and sustain lifelong growth and learning for everyone in our community. We offer a wide variety of classes, events, and exhibitions to help unlock creative potential and foster meaningful connections. Through the power of art, we strive to make a positive impact and enrich the lives of all our participants. Our programs are designed to fully engage people with the creative process, and help them discover their own artistic potential. We offer a range of classes for all levels of experience, from beginner to advanced, in a variety of mediums such as painting, drawing, and printmaking. Our events provide a platform for artists to learn from each other and exchange ideas. Our exhibitions showcase the work of both emerging and established artists, providing opportunities to connect with a larger art world. For more than a century, the YWCA Northeastern Massachusetts has been providing vital services to women and their families in the Merrimack Valley, Essex County, and Southern NH. Founded in 1892, the YWCA was originally created to provide safe housing, job training and support to women who had moved from rural communities and overseas to work in area mills and shops. Today, the YWCA is a thriving social change agency that serves over 15,000 women, children and families every year, offering a range of services from housing, education, and employment support to health and wellness programs. The YWCA is an affiliate of YWCA USA, the nation’s oldest and largest multicultural women’s organization working for social and economic change. In 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson and the Office of Economic Opportunity established the Lawrence Community Action Council to help fight poverty in the Greater Lawrence area. This council was renamed the Greater Lawrence Community Action Council, Inc. in 1966 and became a platform for initiatives to improve the quality of life in the local community. The mission of the GLCAC is to provide education, social services, child care, health care, housing, youth employment, and other related services to those in need. With the help of government and private organizations, the GLCAC has been successful in creating opportunities for those living in poverty.

At Community Kids Place, students can explore a wide range of activities and enjoy a fun and supportive environment. From homework help and reading time to art activities, games, and violin lessons, kids can engage in activities that support their academic, social, and physical development. The program also includes Junior Achievement® and SPARK curriculums, which help kids to build the skills they need to succeed in a global economy and develop lifelong healthy behaviors. Field trips and special events are also part of the program. With the support of Lawrence and Methuen Public Schools, activities are designed to reflect Massachusetts learning standards and extend learning beyond the school day. Community Kids Place provides a great learning opportunity for students of all ages and offers an enriching and enjoyable experience.

At Community Day Learning, we believe in supporting children and their families by providing the highest quality of education and care. Our rich programming is designed to enhance the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of children. Our teachers are highly qualified and receive ongoing professional development. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of competency, licensing all our programs from the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care and operating accredited preschool/kindergarten centers. We assess the development of children in all programs, developing individual goals based on the results. We provide special services on-site, such as speech/language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and mental health therapy. We also share best teaching practices within Community Day Learning and with our award-winning affiliates, Community Day Charter Public Schools.
