The hard work and dedication of Mel Northrop, Colin Caldwell, and Stephen Smith to start a summer Bible camp for children paid off in July 1952 when the first Camp Li-Lo-Li opened at Allegany State Park. Despite the fact that these three men had never run a camp before, their passion for the ministry inspired them to learn the ins and outs of running a camp and they succeeded in their mission. Prior to coming to Camp Nabby, Frank and Flo had spent 44 years at Riverdale Country School in the Bronx, where Frank held a distinguished record as an administrator and teacher. His greatest accomplishments, however, were on the football field: in four decades of coaching, Frank led Riverdale teams to an impressive 17 undefeated seasons and 17 Ivy Preparatory School League championships, with a final record of 247‑47‑6.
