For over 25 years, Ballet Academy of Charleston has been the go-to place for classical ballet training. Our school follows the Russian school of training, based on the Bolshoi Ballet’s curriculum and is the only studio in Charleston to offer classical ballet exclusively. We offer classes for children of all levels and abilities, ages 3-18, and even offer Mommy & Me classes for children as young as 18 months. We also have a thriving adult program for beginners through advanced students, with spring, fall, and summer semesters for all children’s levels, plus a variety of summer camps and intensives. Rhythmic gymnastics is a unique and captivating sport, combining the grace of ballet, the athleticism of gymnastics, and the creativity of cirque to create stunning performances with ribbon, ball, rope, hoop, and clubs. Rhythmic gymnasts are known for their impressive flexibility, and their awe-inspiring tosses and catches. This sport is extremely popular in Eastern Europe, and is steadily gaining traction in the United States. The Low Country now has its very own rhythmic gymnastics training program, thanks to the Charleston School of Rhythmic Gymnastics. Founded in 2021 by Julianna Butterworth, a former rhythmic gymnast and master of teaching, the school focuses on creating great gymnasts and extraordinary students in an environment that is both rigorous and positive. This premier program is the first and only of its kind in the Low Country.

Our method of infant and toddler swim lessons is superior to other programs because it is tailored to each child's individual developmental stage. This helps them reach their maximum potential and learn more effectively. Holy Mackerel Infant Aquatics starts by teaching babies to float. If a baby can roll from front to back on the ground (often accomplished at 6 months of age), they are capable of doing the same in the water. Once a child is walking, they can understand that moving their legs helps them get places, so they can learn to swim and float. It's all about building on the skills they already have in order to promote further development.
