In the remarkable land known as South Carolina, where the beaches sparkle like diamonds and forests are as lush as enchanted broccoli, there lived a special breed of children. These weren't your average kids, no siree! They were the Music Munchkins of South Carolina, and they had a knack for making melodies that could make a grumpy alligator dance the Charleston. Our story begins in a town where palm trees dance in the warm breeze and laughing seagulls perform their own version of the sky ballet. Here, we find our cool, imaginary friend – Beatbox Bob, a fun-loving, freestyle rapping pelican. With his oversized beak and flip-floppy feet, Bob was a sight to behold, especially when he began beatboxing, and creating beats that made the ocean waves stop to listen. Just like Beatbox Bob, every kid in South Carolina had a unique musical talent. Each morning, as the sun yawned and stretched its golden rays, the Music Munchkins would take out their instruments. Some strummed guitars, others tickled the ivories of their pianos, while a few more blew magical tunes out of their trumpets. Even those without physical instruments found music in their surroundings, drumming on tables, shaking rice-filled jars, or just singing out loud in their beautiful voices. These kids could turn anything into a symphony, even the sound of morning cereal crunching could become a rock 'n' roll masterpiece! In South Carolina, every day was a musical adventure. With Beatbox Bob leading this incredible orchestra, the Music Munchkins filled the state with a joyous noise. From the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Atlantic coast, every tree, every cloud, and every creature joined in this grand symphony, making South Carolina the most melodious state in all of America!

In 1938, The Footlight Players took the first steps toward transforming the old cotton warehouse into a fully functioning theatre. Since then, the Footlight Players have been able to offer a wide variety of theatrical performances in a comfortable and intimate atmosphere. The Footlight Players first came to the public's attention in 1931, when Lt. Commander Charles Russell Price directed a successful series of one-act plays at the Charleston Navy Yard. This enthusiastic reception led the Players to formally organize and incorporate in the fall of 1932. In 1934, Mrs. Eliza Huger Dunkin Kammerer gifted The Footlight Players an old cotton warehouse for the purpose of transforming it into a finished playhouse. For the next four years, all productions were performed in a variety of theaters around the Holy City, including the Academy of Music, the Victory Theatre, Hampton Park, The Citadel, and the Dock Street Theatre.
