Discovery Schoolhouse
Discovery Schoolhouse Inc. (DSI) was founded in 1992 by a dedicated group of parents and teachers in response to the closure of another school. As a 501(c)3 childcare and community service program, DSI provides affordable, quality, full-day childcare for children in Milton and Boston. The school is run by a small professional staff, with oversight by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of current and past students' parents. From 1992 until 2009, DSI was located at 865 Brush Hill Rd. in Milton, Massachusetts. This wooded lot is only 1.5 miles away from Mattapan Square, and is adjacent to Fairmont Housing, a low-income housing development in Hyde Park run by the Boston Housing Authority. This unique setting provides a truly child-centered experience with a diversity of families.
