We value parent input and involvement at the Sunshine School.
At Sunshine School, we embrace the uniqueness of every child. Our curriculum recognizes that play is essential for social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. Our stimulating materials, child-centered learning, and nurturing teachers provide the foundation for language skills, positive social interaction, emotional understanding, creative expression, problem-solving, and physical well-being. We recognize that developing a positive attitude toward learning early in life sets children up for a lifelong love of learning.
We recognize the value of parents and teachers working together in the care and education of young children. Our teachers serve as positive role models and provide support for each child and family. We welcome and encourage parent input and involvement at Sunshine School.
Our focus in the beginning is on learning the routines of school and basic safety rules, following directions, using words to express their desires, engaging in large motor activities, and playing side-by-side with classmates.
Children have an art activity each day as fine motor skills are addressed. Exposure to various new materials is empowering for young children. They are proud of their creations and are eager to bring them home.

4 - 5 Years Old
We build on successes of the previous year and see the year ahead as part of the continuum for preparing children to begin kindergarten as happy learners, ready to achieve their full potential.
The four year old take on more responsibility for the running of the classroom. Special jobs are assigned each week and a sense of community develops among classmates. Children develop self-help skills and feel a sense of pride about being cooperative and taking on responsibilities. Meeting time is longer and more structured to suit their longer attention spans.
