Portland Pottery offers a range of exciting classes for kids! Our 8 week sessions are the perfect opportunity for your child to learn and create in a fun and creative environment. Experienced instructors lead each session, which meets once a week for 90 minutes. We are happy to accept kids from the ages of 6-16, providing them with an amazing learning experience. At our dance studio, we strive to instill our students with confidence, dedication, focus, discipline, and teamwork. Our goal is to provide a positive and supportive environment that will foster these important life skills. We design our classes to be comfortable enough for our students to take risks, structured for consistency and focus, and dynamic to keep our dancers engaged and learning. Our teachers lead by example, teaching their own choreography, demonstrating correct technique, and staying physically involved in the class. We also allow students to find their own voice through improvisation and exploring their own movement, as well as through group exercises that help them learn from each other. Our studio is open to movers of all ages and levels, and we emphasize the importance of teamwork and mutual support. We strive to ensure our students become better dancers and better people.

At our College for Kids, we offer classes that are designed to introduce kids to the college-level art creation experience. Every class is either one or one and a half hours long and meets once a week for three trimesters. Our instructors are local professional artists who bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to their classes. Throughout the trimesters, we have a variety of projects that range from art history to children’s literature, and use fine arts materials. As an added bonus, we also bring in local field trips so that kids can experience the art community outside of the classroom. At the end of each trimester, we host a First Friday Art Walk opening to showcase the student’s work. Not only that, but we also offer summer-long art camps for those who want to continue their learning. With our College for Kids program, kids get an experience that’s just like college-level art classes!

Portland Youth Dance (PYD) was established in 1998 to offer intermediate and advanced dancers an opportunity to perform without having to compete. PYD has developed and maintained its “No Star, All-Star” philosophy, which allows dancers to explore diverse styles of dance and challenge their abilities. At PYD, we believe that each dancer brings their own unique artistic integrity which should be recognized and valued. We are proud to offer a performance environment that encourages individual creativity. PYD focuses on creating a positive atmosphere for dancers to thrive.
