About Portland Pottery

Portland Pottery offers a range of exciting classes for kids! Our 8 week sessions are the perfect opportunity for your child to learn and create in a fun and creative environment. Experienced instructors lead each session, which meets once a week for 90 minutes. We are happy to accept kids from the ages of 6-16, providing them with an amazing learning experience. If your child is looking for a group experience, Portland Pottery can also arrange custom classes for groups of six kids or more. Our classes always provide a unique and memorable experience for kids and parents alike. Call or email us for further details about custom classes.

Kid’s Classes
Working on the potter’s wheel, students learn to center clay, throw pots in various forms, and decorate and glaze their pieces. Handbuilding techniques will also be explored. Our experienced teachers will explain all steps of the clay process and encourage individual creativity at all Six-eight week sessions allow lots of time for producing work, and the last day is Glaze Day. Classes meet once a week for 90 minutes.

(INTRO) INTRODUCTORY CLAY
An exciting, fun and relaxing class. If you are new or it has been a while since you touched clay, this is a great class for you. Get acquainted with our studio and learn wheel-throwing techniques, hand building, and the process of glazing and firing.

(I) LEVEL I CLAY
Expanding on the techniques learned in the Intro class. Completion of the Introductory Clay course or recent, previous clay experience required.
