Map It Out

There are so many kinds of maps, all around us! Maps help us find our way home, discover treasure, and explore new places. Have you ever wanted to create your own world? Whether it’s another planet, a magical Maine island, or a cozy hideout, maps can help us travel to new places. What kind of map will you create? Where will it take you? A Children’s Museum &Theatre of Maine Visitor Program Associate will guide participants through the map-making process, including: Creating a large group Mural Map and exploring it together! The Mural Map can be guided by the group’s imagination or it can be specific to your site or program them. Using paper, glue, and markers to create land, water, roads, buildings, and even characters to populate your world, idea, or a space special to you. Developing places names, titles, and legends for individual map creation.
