Parents in need of quality child care on Cape Cod can turn to The Children’s Center. This self-supporting program is run by the Harwich Ecumenical Council for the Homeless (HECH), an organization founded in 1990 with a mission to provide affordable housing to local families. The Children’s Center was established in 1993 in response to the need for childcare, allowing parents to work while their children are cared for in a safe and nurturing environment. Open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM or from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM for a half-day program, The Children’s Center has been providing high quality child care and education for over 30 years. HECH’s mission of self-sufficiency for their families is supported by the services of The Children’s Center, giving parents the opportunity to work while their children are taken care of in a secure and stimulating setting.
CCBT was founded in 2007 on the beautiful Cape Cod, and has been delighting children and parents with its unique and enriching classes and workshops ever since. Our curriculum offers a strong technical foundation in classical, contemporary, and jazz techniques, as well as theatre fundamentals. We strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment for our students to learn, grow, and develop a life-long appreciation for the performing arts, while making new friends and memories along the way. CCBT’s mission is to foster the joy and benefits of dance, theatre, and storytelling in the next generation of performers.
The Children’s Center for Hope and Education (HECH) was founded in 2002 in response to a need for quality early childhood education in the Brewster community. Realizing the need for growth, HECH quickly hired a full-time teaching director and teacher in order to become certified by the state. In order to provide care for more preschoolers (2.9 years-5 years old), St. Peters Lutheran Church generously opened their doors and gave HECH a larger classroom and playground. Because of the generous support of the community, The Children’s Center was able to provide quality care to 10 preschoolers a year. As HECH searched for a more permanent location, the Unitarian Universalist Church in Brewster and Stony Brook Elementary School both stepped up and provided safe and affordable locations for the Center. Thanks to the incredible support and generosity of the community, The Children’s Center for Hope and Education has been able to continue its mission of providing quality early childhood education in the Brewster area.
