About Children's Center

Parents in need of quality child care on Cape Cod can turn to The Children’s Center. This self-supporting program is run by the Harwich Ecumenical Council for the Homeless (HECH), an organization founded in 1990 with a mission to provide affordable housing to local families. The Children’s Center was established in 1993 in response to the need for childcare, allowing parents to work while their children are cared for in a safe and nurturing environment. Open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM or from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM for a half-day program, The Children’s Center has been providing high quality child care and education for over 30 years. HECH’s mission of self-sufficiency for their families is supported by the services of The Children’s Center, giving parents the opportunity to work while their children are taken care of in a secure and stimulating setting.

OUR PROGRAM
Our primary focus is on the child’s social and emotional well being, as well as intellectual, language and physical development. We encourage children to be independent and self-sufficient which helps develop a positive self-image. We encourage the child’s ability to communicate, to work with others, to be aware of the rights of others and to accept responsibility. We also promote healthy bodies by providing outside time on our playground.
