Patty and Mark Oliari opened the Bridgewater Sports Complex in 1994 with the goal of providing a premier sports facility to increase the quality of life for the youth of Bridgewater. The complex has since undergone several remodels and now stands as a permanent structure offering a variety of recreational activities, including soccer, field hockey, basketball, softball, lacrosse, and volleyball. To make the experience more enjoyable, a full-service snack bar is available, with a selection of snacks, drinks, and meals. The complex is now relied upon by surrounding towns, not only to provide sports for children, but adults too.

Bridgewater is proud to promote and encourage interest in recreational soccer activities for our youth! Our organization is dedicated to the formation of teams for competitive soccer, and we are committed to following the rules and regulations set forth by Chapter 180 of the General Laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Our goal is to help our children develop physical stamina and strong moral traits through inter and intra city soccer programs and clinics. At Dance Theater of New England, we take an approach to dance education that sets us apart from the rest. Our classes exceed not only Massachusetts state standards, but national standards too! Careful consideration is given to each age group’s development needs, with every concept and movement explained and correctly demonstrated by our experienced instructors. Your child will understand the historical context of the art form and how to execute it. Your dancer will be equipped with the skills to confidently take on any challenge, whatever the setting. Since 1980, Master Carl H. MacDermott III (7th Dan Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do) has taught Tang Soo Do, through MacDermott’s Tang Doo Do, to Southeastern Massachusetts. The four dojangs (schools) in Southeastern Massachusetts are in the towns of Bridgewater, East Bridgewater, Middleboro and Taunton.

At Bridgewater Martial Arts, we specialize in Chinese Kempo, a style of martial arts that has been practiced for more than a millennium. Our instructors are well-versed in this traditional discipline and strive to teach it in its original form. This provides our students with an opportunity to learn the same martial arts their ancestors did, delivered in a modern setting. Our goal is to provide an experience that is both culturally educational and physically beneficial. Our curriculum includes traditional forms, sparring, and self-defense techniques to give students a comprehensive understanding of martial arts. With our program, students gain physical fitness, strength, and confidence, while learning the wisdom of ancient martial arts.

The Mass Academy of Martial Arts, located in East Bridgewater, MA, is the perfect place for kids ages 5 to 13 to learn the art of American Kenpo. Our classes are taught by Guro T. Kent Nelson, who brings his experience in Kai Shin Jeet Kune Do and Armas Kali to the academy. With our American Kenpo curriculum, students learn the Striking, Trapping and Clinching portion of the art. We also offer a Clinch & Takedown class, which focuses on the ground fighting/grappling aspect of the art. Drawing from a variety of martial arts such as Combat Submission Wrestling, Silat, Judo, Greco Roman Wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, this class teaches students how to grab and control someone, what to do if someone grabs you, and how to find Easy Takedowns that are safe for both partners. As of January 1, 2011, the martial arts school formerly known as MacDermott’s Tang Soo Do is changing its name to Precision Tang Soo Do. After 30 years of administration, Master Carl H. MacDermott III has turned the administration of the school over to Master Scott R. Hile, with whom he has studied for 18 years. The school’s core values and traditional style of instruction remain the same, with the only major difference being the new name. Master MacDermott, who now concentrates his Tang Soo Do time on the instruction of higher belts, has ensured that the school’s history remains the same, even with the new name. Parents can rest assured that the same high standards and commitment to excellence that have been associated with MacDermott’s Tang Soo Do for the last 30 years still remain.

Parents in Bridgewater have been blown away by the incredible transformation that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) has created in their children. BJJ is about so much more than fighting - it is about self-discipline, perseverance, and hard work. It is a tool to help kids become leaders, and it boosts their focus, respect, confidence, and social skills, all while having fun. Our Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program is now offering in-person classes here in Bridgewater! This program is based on the fundamental principles of BJJ, teaching children not only self-defense but also character, respect, and the will to never give up. Parents have seen the amazing results that BJJ can have on their children, and they are thrilled to be able to have in-person classes right in Bridgewater to take advantage of these benefits.
