Now, the Scarpa's are making their mark in the theater community with the opening of Center Stage, a community-based theater that will be open to all ages and abilities. With quality and affordable performances, stellar educational programming, and meaningful volunteer opportunities, Center Stage will be a place to build community one performance at a time. It is a place where everyone is welcome and everyone can find an outlet for their creativity.

Our programming is centered around the hoop as a form of play, exercise, and learning. Our unique curriculum is designed to foster physical literacy, and promote self-confidence and free expression. We use positive reinforcement and encouragement to motivate students and enable them to persist in their learning. Our programs are designed to meet both state and national standards, providing children of all ages with enrichment that is meaningful and age-appropriate.

JKA Shotokan Karate is a martial art that offers much more than just physical training. Through its practice, you will develop strength, character, discipline and self-confidence. It also offers agility, stamina, coordination and speed. The JKA Shotokan Karate training is intended to shape the mind and spirit as much as the body. The Japan Karate Association has been providing guidance in the practice of Shotokan for over six decades. At Nuns' Island JKA, students of all ages have been trained in a disciplined yet spiritual atmosphere since 1994. The dojo has welcomed families, encouraging parents and children to train together. Expanding to two locations in 2010, the dojo has students from 6 to 74 years old. Future Stars Basketball Academy is an innovative program that meets the needs of the community, offering a quality after school program with a focus on basketball. The academy's mission is to provide a positive, fun learning environment for young children, where they can learn the fundamentals of basketball, and be encouraged to reach their personal and academic goals. The Academy's staff of experienced coaches and mentors is dedicated to teaching children the importance of teamwork, dedication and discipline, while rewarding excellence and hard work.

Shelton Flag Football (SFFL) is a modified flag football league that has been teaching young athletes football since 1971. Players wear full equipment and are taught proper blocking techniques, ball handling, and other basic football skills. Tackling is not allowed but during the flag pulling process, players can and do hit the ground. SFFL has a reputation for producing skill-orientated, open football players. Many players have moved on from SFFL to play HS football, earning All-State honors and one even going on to play professional football! The goal of SFFL is to teach football in a fun and safe environment, expecting all coaches, game officials, teammates, parents, and fans to contribute to this goal. SFFL is a unique league that offers a great football experience for all players involved. Players are taught basic and advanced football skills that are conducive to their level of play, such as downfield blocking and ball control. There is an emphasis to teach the game in a safe manner yet still provide an exciting experience for the players.

We offer several performance opportunities throughout the year. From the traditional Winter Concert to the new MVD Music Studio After Dark Parent's Recital, students have the chance to showcase their skills and show off what they have learned. Our Spring Recital and Digital Recording Recital give students the opportunity to perform solo or with a group, allowing them to collaborate and build on their skills. We are also excited to introduce our brand new MVD Music Studio After Dark Parent's Recital, where parents can perform with or without their students. At my studio, we strive to give students the confidence to take the stage and show what they have learned. We offer many different performance opportunities, giving students the chance to shine and parents the chance to showcase their musical talents as well. With our Winter Concert, Spring Recital, Digital Recording Recital, and new MVD Music Studio After Dark Parent's Recital, our students and parents will have the chance to show off their skills and experience the joy of music together.

Ms. Allen has been a passionate piano instructor for decades, and loves helping her students explore the world of music. From classical to popular, she teaches all styles of music to students of all ages – from 4 years old to adults. Private, semi-private and small-group classes are offered both in-studio and remotely. With holiday music such as Christmas, Chanukah and Halloween pieces, Ms. Allen’s piano classes provide a unique and enjoyable experience for students. Not only do they learn the fundamentals of music theory and technique, they also get to explore and enjoy the magic of music.

For over 25 years, the Shelton Martial Arts Academy has been providing parents and their children with the opportunity to learn self defense skills and get into shape. The Academy’s curriculum focuses on teaching students the martial arts skills they need to defend themselves, while also providing a physical fitness program that encourages a healthy lifestyle. The Academy’s experienced instructors are committed to helping students build strength, coordination, and discipline.
