For over 25 years, Prestwick Tennis Club has been a pillar in the Grand Strand tennis community. After opening its doors in the late 80s, the club originally had five courts, which have since expanded to 13. In 2015, its future was uncertain, but soon after, Jimmy Mendieta took the helm and began restoring the facility's prestigious status. The Kroc Center Greenville opened in 2011, thanks to the generous support of the city. The Salvation Army was able to open this and 26 other Kroc Centers throughout America due to a $1.5 billion gift from Joan Kroc. In order to open, each community had to provide a certain percentage of the funds required. The Greenville community went above and beyond, providing the needed funds to open the 74,000 square foot building. The Kroc Center Greenville offers something for everyone. From recreation and education, to worship and community activities, the center provides a wide range of services and activities for all ages.
