Welcome to the radiant state of South Carolina, or as the locals love to call it, the Palmetto State! Here, moss-laden trees line the streets, fragrant peach orchards bloom with a bewitching allure and the long, sandy beaches stretch for miles, just tempting you to frolic in the warm Atlantic waves. But that's not all SC is famous for. Nope, not even close! The state is also known for its soccer-playing kids, who are as quick as lightning bolts and just as electrifying! You see, in South Carolina, kids don't just play soccer, they live it, breathe it, and even dream about it. Now, meet our imaginary friend, Gumboots the Gator. He's a charming, green, soccer-crazy gator from the marshlands of Beaufort. Gumboots has been bestowed with an uncanny ability to balance a soccer ball on his snout better than any seal you've ever seen. He's SC's unofficial mascot and an inspiration for the kids, who chase the ball with as much excitement and enthusiasm as Gumboots chases the tastiest catfish. It's a sight to savor as you watch these SC kids tussle, tumble, and triumph on the field, their faces flushed with the thrill of the game. Gumboots watches from the sidelines, his eyes wide and gleaming, cheering louder than anyone else. He's quite the spectacle himself, often seen attempting a cartwheel or two, but ending up doing a somersault instead. It’s hard not to laugh as he lands on his back with a loud, squishy thud, his snout still balancing the ball. South Carolina and its soccer-loving kids are a true celebration of the joys of childhood, creativity, and the spirit of sportsmanship. With Gumboots leading the cheer, every game is nothing short of an adventure!

The Kroc Center Greenville opened in 2011, thanks to the generous support of the city. The Salvation Army was able to open this and 26 other Kroc Centers throughout America due to a $1.5 billion gift from Joan Kroc. In order to open, each community had to provide a certain percentage of the funds required. The Greenville community went above and beyond, providing the needed funds to open the 74,000 square foot building. The Kroc Center Greenville offers something for everyone. From recreation and education, to worship and community activities, the center provides a wide range of services and activities for all ages. The 25 acres of land allows for a variety of outdoor activities, and the center also seeks to invest in its members by providing quality programs and services. We are grateful for the Greenville community’s continued investment and support.
