At My Gym, we understand how much joy parents experience when seeing their children reach milestones. Since our establishment, we have been creating a fun and physically engaging environment for children to learn. We have seen the excitement in children’s eyes from their first steps to tumbling down soft mats. Our goal has always been to foster a supportive environment where children’s self-esteem and confidence can grow and now, after 35 years, we are proud to say that children of all abilities can succeed and thrive.

At American Cadre Karate, we are proud to offer students of all ages the opportunity to learn and practice a variety of martial arts. We have carefully selected six different styles of martial arts to offer our students, each chosen for their unique advantages. Shotokan Karate is a traditional Japanese style of martial art that focuses on kata and striking. Judo is a modern martial art that focuses on throws, take-downs, and submission holds. Jujitsu is a hybrid martial art that combines throws, joint locks, and strikes. American Kickboxing focuses on stand-up striking and self-defense techniques. Muay Thai is a martial art that combines punches, kicks, elbows, and knee strikes. Lastly, Modern Street Defense is a style of martial art that focuses on self-defense techniques from the ground up. At American Cadre Karate, we recognize the value of learning more than one style of martial arts. Our co-founders have spent many years training and studying the constantly evolving martial arts, and are proud to share their knowledge and expertise with our students. We strive to provide our students with a well-rounded education in martial arts, helping them to become their very best in all aspects of life.

Parents Magazine is proud to feature Nicole Zapolski, an outstanding dancer and educator. Nicole has been dancing since she was a young child, taking classes at a local studio for 15 years. After graduating from Brockton High School, where she was a member of the half-time dance squad and drama club, Nicole went on to major in dance at Dean College and receive an Associate's Degree of the Arts. Following college, Nicole began teaching for numerous local dance studios. In 1999, she made a big move and purchased the Duxbury Dance Shoppe, where she had been teaching and choreographing for five years. Nicole is an active member of the Greater Brockton Dance Teacher's Association, having been a member since 1994 and serving as the treasurer for 12 years. Parents Magazine is proud to feature Nicole Zapolski as a true example of dedication and success. She has taken her love of dancing and turned it into a successful career in teaching and choreography. Nicole's commitment to dance is a shining example to other young dancers of what can be achieved through hard work and dedication.

Kumon is an after-school academic enrichment program designed to help children achieve success. With a focus on individualized learning, the program is designed to help kids become focused, motivated and self-reliant. Students progress through the program at their own pace, with experienced instructors monitoring progress to ensure comprehension. The goal of Kumon is to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

Shay has always been driven to do good and help others. After an eye-opening experience in his hometown, he was determined to make a difference. By mediating a conflict between two rival gangs, he was able to stop them from resorting to violence. This was a pivotal moment that motivated Shay to help the local youth on a larger scale. In 2018, Shay opened Beast Control in Taunton. It is the first boxing gym in the world to be located in an indoor shopping mall. He hopes that this will provide the youth of Taunton with a safe and positive outlet to channel their energy. He wants to show them that they can use their inner “Beast” for good. The mission of Beast Control is to help young people develop self-discipline, confidence, and respect. Shay and his team aim to teach the youth the importance of goal-setting, teamwork, and perseverance. He believes that these skills will help them become successful, contributing members of their community.
