Established in 1986 to honor the crew of the STS-51L Challenger mission, Challenger Learning Center has since become a global network that reaches thousands of students and teachers each year. Learning at Challenger Learning Center provides students with an out-of-this-world experience. Through simulated missions, students are able to work as a team to solve problems and explore the universe from the comfort of their own classrooms. They can gain a deeper understanding of the importance of STEM and the impact of space exploration. For golfers looking to hone their skills, Crystal Woods Golf Course is the perfect place. Originally designed by Bill Langford in the 1950s, the 9-hole, par 37 course was known as Bit O’ Heather G.C. until 1967, when architect Charles Wagstaff blended the old with the new. The course was then expanded to a par 72 with 18 holes, becoming the first semi-private/daily fee course in McHenry County. The result of this vision came to fruition in the summer of 1969, when the Craig family opened the course for play. Since 1969, Crystal Woods Golf Course has been a beloved destination for golfers of all ages and abilities. The course was originally designed by Bill Langford in the early 1950s as a 9-hole, par 37 course. With the help of course owners Richard and Mary Ann Craig, Crystal Woods became the first semi-private/daily fee course of its kind in McHenry County. After two years of construction, the course opened for play in the summer of 1969.

As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, the WGSL Softball Program relies heavily on donations and sponsorships to keep the program running. Our dedicated volunteers, Board of Directors, Division Representatives, and coaches work tirelessly year round to provide an enjoyable experience for all. They put a lot of energy into creating a game schedule that runs from May through the end of June, scheduling games with the Northern Illinois Softball Association. Registration for the spring season begins around January 1st and practices start in April. Your contributions and assistance will ensure that the WGSL Softball Program can continue to offer a great experience to all involved.
