For golfers looking to hone their skills, Crystal Woods Golf Course is the perfect place. Originally designed by Bill Langford in the 1950s, the 9-hole, par 37 course was known as Bit O’ Heather G.C. until 1967, when architect Charles Wagstaff blended the old with the new. The course was then expanded to a par 72 with 18 holes, becoming the first semi-private/daily fee course in McHenry County. The result of this vision came to fruition in the summer of 1969, when the Craig family opened the course for play.
Since 1969, Crystal Woods Golf Course has been a beloved destination for golfers of all ages and abilities. The course was originally designed by Bill Langford in the early 1950s as a 9-hole, par 37 course. With the help of course owners Richard and Mary Ann Craig, Crystal Woods became the first semi-private/daily fee course of its kind in McHenry County. After two years of construction, the course opened for play in the summer of 1969.

Craig Woods 9 Hole Executive Golf Course
The signature island green of the third hole tests the shot-making ability of golfers with all levels of experience. Those not anxious to test their mettle can opt for the adjacent green which is surrounded by terra firma. However, slicers will still have to take care to avoid an unfortunate splash-down. With its par 3, 4, and 5 holes, numerous water hazards, and mature trees, Craig Woods offers an interesting set of obstacles for you to overcome.
