Since 1927, the JCC of Binghamton has been a vital part of the Broome County community. Located south of the University Plaza, the JCC is a dynamic institution, enriching the lives of all ages through its wide variety of services. The hard work and dedication of Mel Northrop, Colin Caldwell, and Stephen Smith to start a summer Bible camp for children paid off in July 1952 when the first Camp Li-Lo-Li opened at Allegany State Park. Despite the fact that these three men had never run a camp before, their passion for the ministry inspired them to learn the ins and outs of running a camp and they succeeded in their mission. The camp was named by 11-year-old Betty Carol Northrop in a naming competition and stands for Life-Love-Light, all attributes of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Since 1955, families have trusted THE MOUNT TOM DIFFERENCE to create lasting memories and foster positive youth development. Each group is led by an experienced, professional educator who spends the entire camp day with your children. Sky Lake is one of five camp and retreat centers owned and operated by the Upper New York Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. This camp and retreat center is part of the Camp & Retreat Ministries. It is supervised by The Executive Director of Camp & Retreat Ministries and overseen by the Committee on Camp & Retreat Ministries. At Sky Lake, visitors are encouraged to grow in their relationship with God, be the body of Christ within the world, and live in accordance with the example of Jesus Christ.
