Welcome! Since 1973, Tiger’s Claw Martial Arts has been providing expert instruction for children & adults in Isshin-Ryu Karate, Self-defense, and the Martial Arts. Our Hillsdale, NJ school was opened in 1999 by husband and wife team Professor Ronald Allan Mertz and Master Maureen Mertz. Our Black Belt staff is highly trained and proficient with over 140 years of combined training under the direct supervision of Professor Ronald Allen Mertz, 10th Degree Black Belt. We are proud that our school and instructors have won many awards including the American Isshin-Ryu Dojo of the Year, Platinum Lifetime Achievement Award and Isshin-Ryu Children‘s Instructor of the Year. Tiger’s Claw is home to the award winning Little Tiger’s Program, founded by Master Maureen Mertz in 1999. It is also the headquarter dojo for the Tiger Karate Society granted by its founder Grand Master Richard Mrofka.

Abrakadoodle is all about creativity for kids, which since it was founded in 2002, has delivered the very best in visual arts classes for kids, summer art camps, holiday art camps, art parties and art events to more than one-million children in schools, community sites and Abrakadoodle art studios for kids around the world! Abrakadoodle brings art onsite to kids in schools and community sites through our mobile art program. We provide well-trained teachers, who help inspire kids to immerse in learning and creating art – sometimes getting messy but always having a blast! Our expansive art lesson plans are unrivaled, exceeding national standards for visual arts education.

We are celebrating our 17th season! Just off Broadway Performing Arts Academy (JOBA) located in Hillsdale, NJ is more then a dance studio. We offer a family like atmosphere where students can learn in a fun and positive environment. We offer a variety of recreational classes including Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Pointe, Hip Hop, Acro, Lyrical, Theater Dance; as well as our Competition Company and Pom Dance Team for the more serious dancers. We are thrilled to announce Theater Classes are back giving our students the opportunity in becoming triple threats! We offer outstanding performance opportunities to all students, some past performances; Hillsdale Festival Day, Citi Field, Westwood's Home for the Holiday Parade, Westfield Mall, Walt Disney World, Epcot, Carnegie Hall, and our annual crowd pleasing recital held at Bergen Pac in Englewood.

Aeon Fitness and Gymnastics, LLC. is a premier North Jersey training facility for fitness and gymnastics. Our shelves are filled with gorgeous, luxurious yarns, and we offer free patterns and all the accessories you need for your knitting and crocheting projects. Yarn Diva is the realization of a dream. Our shop is run by the amazing Ann Marie, who is supported by the inspirational Karen, as well as Maria and Anna. Whenever you stop by, you can be sure of a warm welcome and plenty of help. We cater to all ages specifically geared to design, fashion, sketching, draping, creating, crafting, and basic sewing skills. We offer daily, weekly, and monthly, individual or small group sessions. Schedules are available after school, school breaks, Saturdays and during the summer. We also execute in-home parties and events and provide our own space at the Westwood Elks, Westwood, NJ, as we have done in the past.

The municipal library of Hillsdale, New Jersey, had its beginning as an association library in 1935. The township was formed in 1898 and previously had not possessed a library. It was not until a W.P.A. class in public speaking conducted by Elsie Hubachek (who was later a councilwoman) that support for a library took root and began to grow. A member of the class, Sarah Vander Clute, spoke on the subject of books. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and at that moment the decision to form a town library was made. Members of the class formed a committee and met with local citizens. Judge Walter J. McIntyre, an attorney, who subsequently served as a trustee for 35 years until his retirement in 1970, gave legal advice and was chairman of the public meeting. Judge McIntyre chose six library trustees and a library association, with a membership fee of one dollar, was formed. A vacant store on the main street was rented. Members of the library worked to get the building in order, washing windows, scrubbing floors, mending and cataloging books, building bookshelves. Books were donated from everywhere, including a loan collection from the State Library. Gifts and proceeds from card parties, movie benefits, and a play, The Haunted House, given by the Hillsdale Players, kept the project on its feet. The Free Public Library was opened to the people of the town on January 27, 1936. In eight months the number of borrowers was 752, a good representation from a total population of approximately 3100.
