About Starz In Step Dance Academy

We understand that dance can be an intimidating activity, and our instructors are dedicated to helping each student learn while having fun and building self-confidence. Our 6000 sq. ft facility offers four spacious dance studios for our students to learn in. Our studios are equipped with cameras and an app you can download to watch your child's progress from your phone. We want to create an environment where learning, having fun, and building self-confidence go hand in hand. We strive to provide quality dance instruction at an affordable rate. At our facility, we want parents to feel comfortable while their children are in class. We provide free wifi and a waiting area with comfortable seating for parents and siblings. We also have a dance apparel sizing area so that your child can feel confident in their outfit. Our goal is to make sure that everyone who walks through our doors feels at ease and secure.

Classical Dance

A classical dance form characterized by grace and precision of movement and by elaborate formal gestures, steps, and poses. Students will study classical ballet in the fall semester learning the positions, steps, jumps and turns along with terminology. All students enrolled in a ballet class will be in the Winter Ballet black leotard recital. The students will study a more lyrical version of dance in the spring semester: expressing a more personal emotion interpreting the dance with the music. The spring semester routine will be featured in the spring recital.

Gymnastics

Students will study the tumbling portion of gymnastics including: forward and backward rolls, handstands, cartwheels, roundoffs, walkovers. The fall semester will be focused primarily on teaching tumbling skills. The spring semester will continue with skill development in addition to teaching a routine to music that incorporates the skills learned to showcase for recital.

Musical Theatre

Musical theatre dancing is less of a particular style, and more of a description of dancing that is rooted in the diverse history of Broadway musicals. Relying heavily on a knowledge of ballet, tap and jazz, musical theater dancers are , first and foremost, actors and place a high focus on musical interpretation.
