Rainbow Family Daycare

The academic goal for these children is to be able to recognize their colors, shapes, numbers, letters, and names in print. We teach them about safety, learning their addresses and phone numbers. We pay attention to their cognitive skills and help improve their motor skills. We even help in the potty training stage as well:)

Academically, it is time to prepare them for kindergarten. We start putting those letters we have learned together to make words. We make sure the children can hold a pencil properly and write their names. Proper use of scissors and the ability to dress, including buttoning and zippering are important skills for this age. Being able to toilet themselves, as well as sit, listen and follow directions, are just more skills to be taught in preparation for kindergarten.

- Academic: The children will learn all the basics of preschool with kindergarten preparation being the end result. They will all be grouped according to their ability and progress at their own rate. - Social: The children are encouraged to develop social skills such as sharing, cooperating, and learning to function within a group setting, as well as to constructively occupy their time independently. - Emotional: Every effort is made to assure that the children are comfortable within their surroundings and with each other. - Physical: Daily physical activities, both inside and out, are done to develop both fine and gross motor skills. - Nutritional: Rainbow has a formal nutritional component incorporated into its curriculum sponsored through Child Health and Nutrition. Fun, Fun, Fun: The most important goal of all, is that the children achieve all of the above while having loads of fun!
