About Soccer Unity Project in Boston, MA

Soccer has the potential to be a powerful tool to bridge the divide between our global city and create a more equitable future. By providing youth with the opportunity to engage in sports, we are working to shift the culture of youth soccer away from a pay-to-play model with an unfortunate history of racism and gender inequality. Instead, we are creating an environment that welcomes and fosters growth for urban youth, no matter their background or experience. Our approach focuses on using the soccer field as a hub to connect communities, and to build inclusion and unity. Our mission is to use soccer to bring together our diverse city and to break down the barriers of inequity, polarization, disconnection, and bias. We understand that in order to accomplish this, we must create an environment in which all children have the chance to play sports, regardless of their economic status. We strive to alter the pay-to-play model of soccer, which has perpetuated a cycle of racism and gender inequality. We are determined to create a culture of inclusion and community building, using the soccer field as a center for connection and intersection. Our vision is for soccer to be a vehicle for positive change in our global city, as we use it to promote equity and create unity. By providing youth with access to sports, regardless of their background or experience, we are working to break down the barriers of systematic racism and gender inequality. We are committed to using the soccer pitch as a hub of connection, intersection, inclusion, and community building. Through our efforts, we believe we can make our global city a fairer and more inclusive place.
