About Discovery Camps in Pomona, CA
Horse Camp is a special experience, where campers learn about horses and horsemanship. They learn how to groom a horse, how to tack (put on the horse’s saddle and bridle), and how to ride. The Horse Camp curriculum is the same each week, but each camper’s riding experiences will vary. Another activity that we offer is Computer, Robotics, Entrepreneurship and Imagination Camps. The campers use the same tools and activities each week, but the projects, products, and challenges will vary. They will learn about computer programming, engineering, and robotics; and can even design their own device. They also explore the world of entrepreneurship and learn how to create a business plan. Finally, they explore their imagination and create something wonderful.

BeAKid
Computer Camp
The computer world continues to evolve and as school districts elevate their computer curriculum, Cal Poly Pomona responds with a redeveloped camp designed to push campers even further. We now implement Alice as our primary programming software, in order for campers to develop more complicated apps, worlds and animnations. Campers will also utilize Autodesk software to produce 3D printable objects. Campers can look forward to scanning objects and meshing them into different forms or using Computer Assisted Design (CAD) software to build objects from scratch. Campers will be able to take home a fabrication of their own design and production.

Horse Camp
The W. K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center is a showcase facility that houses approximately 70 purebred Arabian horses used in teaching, research, and breeding. The Center includes 38 acres of irrigated pasture, four barns for stabling horses, foaling stalls with an observation room, a breeding barn, a veterinary sciences laboratory, an arena, a farrier shop, and research facilities.

Imagination Camp
In response to parental demand, we are now offering our live animals, crafts & projects camp for campers 5-7 years old. Otherwise known as our Imagination Camps, our activities allow campers to explore their creativity, while developing their social skills. Imagination camps provide campers with an inclusive environment where they can foster positive relationships, increase camper self-esteem in social settings, and promote inventiveness by stimulating their imagination. Campers are also challenged with some academic advancement exercises targeted to K-2 grades.
