Parents in Rhode Island can be rest assured that all programs and services available to their children are of the highest quality. We work closely with the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) and Communities for People’s (CFP) managed care networks to ensure that our programs and services are easily accessible to all families. For those families who have insurance, our Counseling and Wellness program is available through third party billing. We are constantly evaluating the quality of our programs and services, making sure that they are always improving and providing the best care possible for families in Rhode Island.

Programs at Communities For People in Providence, RI

BeAKid
Families for Children (FFC)

Families for Children is a specialized foster care program designed to serve youth ages 0-20 years old who cannot be served in traditional, public agency foster homes. The program also serves as a family-based treatment setting for both diversion and a step-down from residential care and inpatient hospitalization. Eligible youth require a higher level of care and supervision than is usually found in a traditional or kinship foster care placement.

Independent Living Program

The Independent Living Program is an outreach supported apartment setting for older adolescents female and male adolescents, ages 17 to 21 in need of intensive life skill training and development. Youth live alone or with roommates in an apartment setting in the communities of their choice. Over time, the youth assumes a greater responsibility for his/her plan, apartment, and finances. Staff assist youth in; job seeking and retention, housing, financial literacy, and adult decision making skills. The program prepares youth to live independently upon discharge.

Enhanced Family Support Services (EFSS)

EFSS is a strength based in-home treatment program helping any youth ranging from 0- 21 years old and their families stay together or reunify despite significant stressors. The program is designed for youth who are in a residential placement and looking to reunify home, or youth in the facing possible removal from the home and therefore in need of stabilization. Family support services range various management strategies to effective communications skills to counseling. Parents and caregivers develop the skills necessary to ensure the safety, health, and the well-being of all family members.
