Camp Nabby has been providing Westchester County families with summer fun since 1940. In 1970, the Bertino family, led by Frank and Flo, became the second owners of the then-called Nabby Day Camp. As an experienced educator and coach, Frank was eager to take on the challenge of creating a top-notch physical education program from the ground up.

Prior to coming to Camp Nabby, Frank and Flo had spent 44 years at Riverdale Country School in the Bronx, where Frank held a distinguished record as an administrator and teacher. His greatest accomplishments, however, were on the football field: in four decades of coaching, Frank led Riverdale teams to an impressive 17 undefeated seasons and 17 Ivy Preparatory School League championships, with a final record of 247‑47‑6.

Camp Nabby is a beloved Westchester summer day camp that has been creating lasting memories for families since 1940. In 1970, Frank and Flo Bertino were thrilled to become the second owners of what was then called Nabby Day Camp. Frank had the unique opportunity to design a physical education program from the ground up—an exciting challenge for a man who had a long and successful career as an educator and coach.

In 1970, Frank and Flo Bertino took over the reigns of Nabby Day Camp, a dream come true for Frank who had the chance to put his experience as an educator and coach to the test by designing a physical education program from scratch. Before moving to Mohegan Lake, Frank and Flo had been at Riverdale Country School in the Bronx for 44 years, where Frank was a highly respected teacher and administrator. His greatest successes, however, were on the football field: he led Riverdale to an incredible 17 undefeated seasons and 17 Ivy Preparatory School League championships, with a final record of 247‑47‑6.

Our co-ed Pre-K program gives 3  to 4 ½ year olds an opportunity to discover all the fun and excitement of summer camp while developing their social skills and self-confidence. Our youngest campers enjoy our heated, small pool twice each day — with focused instruction in the morning and “free” swim in the afternoon.  Sports activities for this age group also include soccer, floor hockey and other ball skills, which take place on our fields and courts scaled for age appropriateness.  Specialized programs include nature, aerial adventure, arts & crafts, music and gymnastics, all of which are taught by our specialty counselors.  From morning drop-off through dismissal, our campers are always under the close supervision of our mature, superbly trained staff.

PRE-K For children from 3 to 4 1/2 years

Our junior camp program keeps your child moving throughout the day and deeply engaged in a variety of sports and activities. It introduces kids between the ages of 4½ and 8½ to teamwork and technique. Whether they’re learning how to swim or improve their stroke, properly shoot a basketball or which direction to run on a baseball diamond, campers will be coached and encouraged all the way. In addition to our rigorous athletic schedule, we also expect young campers to give it their all in our special activities – nature, art, music, gymnastics and our outdoor challenge course.

Junior Camp For children from 4 1/2 to 8 1/2 years

Our senior camp program offers the additional freedom and flexibility that older campers (8 ½ – 13 years) really like. It encourages them to take full advantage of our facilities and special interest staff, developing their individual talents and skills.

Senior Camp For children from 8½ to 13 years

Our Leader-In-Training program is designed for 14-year-old teens. It was created in 2013 to allow us to include campers too old to be in our traditional programs and yet too young to be a Counselor-In-Training—by Department of Health standards.
