The DCP strives "to provide recreation and other related programs and services which meet the community's needs, with a special consideration for seniors and youth."
 
Along with the Department of Community Services, the DCP also manages and maintains several parks and facilities including the Municipal Golf Course and the Family Aquatic Center.

The DCP itself is housed at the Summit Community Center and is comprised of five full-time staff members and one part-time staff member. The DCP also employees hundreds of seasonal camp counselors, lifeguards, gate attendants, and maintenance workers.

Coupons for private swim lessons may be purchased at either the SFAC front gate or at the Community Center for $30 per half hour lesson. SFAC members may then select the instructor of their choice from the list of approved instructors which will be held at the SFAC front gate. Dates and times for swim lessons will be worked out between the SFAC member and the chosen instructor.

Monofins and Mermaid fin will be available to purchase with registration.This crash course in becoming a mermaid will end in a special photoshoot. Lesson is held at the Summit Family Aquatic Center, 100 Ashwood Avenue.

a sizable, lovely pool with two kid-sized, large curving slides. many different types of chairs, lots of shade. Weekly float nights are fantastic. Adult swim breaks are scheduled every hour for many reasons. Fantastic location, always pleasant, and extremely clean.

Fantastic location with a large pool and loads of kid-friendly activities, including swim lessons. Pleasant staff, snack bar, lovely tree-lined settings, excellent summer location!
