The Hoboken Children’s Theater (HCT) is a leading provider of musical theater and acting classes and productions for children aged 3 through young adults. Founded in 2002 by Chase Leyner, HCT has been helping to develop the theatrical talents of young people in the tri-state area for over 15 years. Many of our former students have gone on to attend the top colleges in the country for performing and theatrical arts, including majors in musical theater, acting, stage management and costume design. Some of our graduates have even gone on to have successful careers on Broadway, in film, television, and voiceovers. 

At HCT, we strive to provide our students with the knowledge and skills they need in order to succeed in the performing arts, while also giving them the opportunity to perform in top-quality productions at our own theater in Hoboken, New Jersey. Our classes are designed to help students learn the fundamentals of musical theater and acting, and to foster their creativity and confidence. 

We believe in the power of the performing arts to transform lives, and we are proud of our students’ accomplishments and their success in pursuing their dreams. We are committed to helping them continue to develop their talents and reach their full potential.

This class is a perfect introduction to theater and the performing arts, curated especially for our tiniest students! You and your child will play, sing, and improvise – a great way to encourage creativity, confidence, and critical thinking. A parent or caregiver must stay with student.



Make it Musical! Ages 3-5

The first step on the road to performing. Learn musical numbers and scenes from James and the Giant Peach, that will be presented on the last day of class on the HCT stage! A fun way to start singing and dancing your heart out!



Songs & Scenes Grades K-2

This class is for the child with an interest in performing. Real scripts and costumes, real choreography—and real performances on the HCT Stage!

The theater we did here when I was young was the best part of my upbringing. Now that I work there, it always makes me happy to watch kids enjoying it the same way I did when I was younger. The shows are fantastic, the rest of the staff is wonderful, nice, and caring, and the workplace is fantastic. 10/10
