Drumming – Afro-Brazilian Rhythms
Drumming is a valuable experience for children in building their self-esteem, while cooperating within a group which requires them to concentrate on counting beats and following patterns. The shared experience of creating music is an essential part of our goal of trying to teach international-mindedness. An essential part of class is teaching the students how to handle the drums and each other with respect. We also cover the drum basics of hand coordination, different tones, listening to other parts and maintaining a steady pulse while playing rhythms. Students learn to tackle social skills through drumming games and activities. Drumming builds important work and community skills such as communication, listening, cooperative teamwork and respect for others.

Yoga helps children’s bodies to grow and develop. It builds strength, flexibility and coordination as well as mental focus. It promotes development and encourages imaginative play in elementary school children. It can help middle and high school children with the physical and emotional challenges they face.
