Nick Savery opened the Meikyo Dojo in January of 2013, to share his passion for Kyokushin Karate with the community of Hudson, NH. Kyokushin is a traditional form of karate that originated in Japan and emphasizes full-contact sparring and self-development. At Meikyo Dojo, we strive to build a strong sense of community around the discipline and self-improvement that comes with traditional karate.
The name Meikyo means “a brightly polished mirror,” or “mirror of the soul.” It is believed that karate is a way to continuously polish our techniques and ourselves, gradually improving both body and mind. The word Dojo translates to “training hall” – at Meikyo Dojo, we are committed to providing a supportive and safe environment to train in traditional karate.
We never want our kids to have to use these skills in modern life, but every good parent still wants their kids to be safe. That’s why our martial arts training is very serious about teaching your kids the skills needed for self-protection in any circumstance, from the neighborhood bully to a stranger on the street (and so much more).
