Sewing is a wonderful hobby that many parents may not be aware of for their children. That being said, one local Waxhaw mom has been teaching the craft for over a decade. After starting out in her bonus room in her home, she opened Thimble Bee, a storefront off Providence in 2014. She has been blessed to meet so many wonderful families in the Charlotte area and hopes that those who come to Thimble Bee find it to be a safe and comfortable place to learn and grow in their skill. This mom of Waxhaw fell in love with sewing when she was fourteen and has been passionate about it ever since. After thirteen years of teaching, she now has the privilege of having a storefront off Providence in Charlotte. Her students have come from far and wide, and she is so grateful for the relationships she has built with them. She loves to see her students progress and hopes that Thimble Bee provides the perfect environment for them to learn and grow in their skills. This mom of Waxhaw has been teaching the art of sewing for thirteen years. She started her journey fourteen years ago and has been captivated by it ever since. She is so blessed to have met so many families in the area and wants her students to have a place where they feel safe and supported as they learn and hone their skills. She loves to see her students grow in their craft and hopes Thimble Bee provides a positive environment for growth.

Meet Oksana McCarthy, a professional cellist in Charlotte, North Carolina. Oksana has traveled the world, teaching and performing in places such as Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Canada, Australia, Austria, Netherlands, Poland, Norway, Russia and the United States. Her unique experiences in music and culture from four different continents bring a special touch to her teaching. Oksana has been giving private lessons out of her home studio for the past decade. She also teaches at public and private schools in the United States while still playing in symphonies, orchestras and chamber groups. Her dedication and passion for music is evident in her solo performances as well. Oksana McCarthy is an amazing cellist in Charlotte, NC. She has been able to bring her unique knowledge from around the world to her teaching, making her lessons an enriching experience. Whether it's her private lessons in her home studio, teaching in public and private schools in the US, or performing in symphonies, orchestras, chamber groups, or as a soloist, Oksana's passion for music is inspiring.

At Waxhaw Athletic Association (WAA), we believe that every child should have the opportunity to engage in sports. That’s why we’ve been providing quality, all-volunteer sports programs for young athletes since 1980. Our humble beginnings as a small-town, single-sport league have grown into a multi-sport professional athletic organization offering Soccer, Baseball, Softball, Basketball, and Flag Football for kids ages 3-18. We serve families from Union County, South Charlotte, and even South Carolina. WAA is committed to providing an inclusive, safe, and encouraging environment for young athletes and their families. Our all-volunteer, non-profit organization is dedicated to helping children develop their physical and social skills through sports. We’ve grown from a single-sport league to a professional athletic organization offering five sports for kids ages 3-18 in Union County, South Charlotte, and even in South Carolina. For almost four decades, Waxhaw Athletic Association has been helping young athletes reach their full potential in a safe and encouraging environment. From humble beginnings as a small-town, single-sport league, we’ve grown into a multi-sport professional athletic organization offering Soccer, Baseball, Softball, Basketball, and Flag Football for kids ages 3-18 in Union County, South Charlotte, and even South Carolina. At UpLevel Martial Arts, we recognize how important it is for our children to have positive influences in their lives. Our instructors teach valuable life lessons to families that can have a lasting impact. By teaching children about respect, hard work, and responsibility while they’re young, we can help them become successful adults. With the guidance and wisdom of our instructors, our children can become the people they want to be.
