The Newton-Conover Auditorium is a remarkable facility with 504 seats and stunning Art Deco and Neo-Classical architectural elements. In 1991, it was rescued from demolition thanks to the collaboration of the City of Newton, Catawba County, Newton-Conover City School system, and thousands of alumni and citizens of Catawba County. This theater is one of the few Art Deco Theaters in North Carolina and the Southeast. As a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization, the Newton Performing Arts Center now serves as a state-of-the-art performance facility, The Newport Music & Art School, and is available for public rentals.
In addition, the Newton Performing Arts Center hosts a variety of events and attractions, offering something special for local and regional audiences. From live music and theatre performances to art exhibitions and educational programming, the Newton-Conover Auditorium provides an ever-changing lineup of entertainment.
The Newton Performing Arts Center is a thriving hub for the arts, and its preservation is an inspiring example of the power of collaboration and community.
