At Durham Ballet Theatre, we are dedicated to providing pre-professional training to an eclectic range of dancers. We strive to make the performing arts available to everyone, regardless of their cultural, economic, or artistic background. We strive to bring more opportunities to those communities who are underserved in Durham. We provide lectures and demonstrations to the public, and free performances to those who would not be able to attend otherwise. We also provide facilities for others to be involved in the promotion of the arts. By doing so, we are helping to make sure that everyone has a chance to experience the beauty of dance.
Durham Ballet Theatre is open to all ages, ethnicities, abilities and levels of accomplishment in the arts. Scholarships are available for those who wish to train and perform in dance, voice or acting and do not have the means. Durham Ballet Theatre does not discriminate on the basis of age, citizenship, color, disability, gender identity or expression, race, religion, creed, national origin, political affiliation, sexual orientation, or status as a disabled veteran or veteran of any war era.
We ensure safety in all we do including training, technique, performance and education as well as in the acceptance of self-expression and personal artistic development.
