Squirrelington, a knighted rodent with a knack for nuttiness, leads the Mitten Munchkins on expeditions across the state, from the sandy dunes of Sleeping Bear to the towering lighthouses dotting the coast. The Mitten Munchkins, armed with their trusty magnifying glasses and wild imaginations, traverse from Detroit’s bustling urban jungle to the serene beauty of the Upper Peninsula. Each Munchkin has a heart filled with pure Michigander grit and a rucksack full of unbeatable enthusiasm for discovery. When they're not trying to figure out if Mackinaw Island fudge can be used as a viable fuel source for their jetpacks, they're busy tracking down the elusive Jackalope in the forests of Kalamazoo. With Sir Squirrelly leading the way, every day is filled with laughter, learning, and a touch of the unexpected. For over 50 years, Frontier Camp has been dedicated to making disciples of Jesus by sharing God’s Word amidst the beauty of His creation. Since our founding in 1969, we’ve been licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services and are proudly accredited by the American Camping Association. We’re also a member of the Christian Camping and Conference Association. Our mission is to use Christian camping and outdoor recreation as a means to support local churches in fulfilling the Great Commission—evangelizing people of all ages and discipling believers toward deeper maturity in Christ. Frontier Camp offers a dual ministry: during the summer, we host a 10-week youth camp, and throughout the rest of the year, we serve as a retreat facility for churches and like-minded religious organizations. Whether through summer camps or retreats, our goal remains the same: to expose people to Christ and encourage their spiritual growth through His Word and by reflecting His character in everything we do. While we provide top-notch recreation and exciting programming, the heart of our camp is the spiritual impact, rooted in the truth of God’s inerrant Word.
At Lions Bear Lake Camp, we understand the importance of teaching children essential leadership skills that will help them succeed in life. Our campers gain self-confidence and learn the importance of developing positive relationships with their peers, as well as how to manage their own emotions and behavior. Our activities are designed to help campers foster a sense of responsibility and develop their critical thinking skills. Lions Bear Lake Camp is dedicated to providing premier outdoor educational and recreational experiences to all persons, regardless of ability. We offer a variety of activities including swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, archery, arts and crafts, and team building. Our campers have the opportunity to explore nature while learning about wildlife conservation, environmental stewardship, and outdoor safety. We also host special events and activities throughout the year, such as overnight camping trips and field trips into some of Michigan’s most beautiful parks and forests.
