Junior Sailing
Do you have any interest in sailing? No experience necessary! We work with each child independently to determine their best starting point within the program and allow them to advance at their own pace. No interest in racing? No need to race! DYC Junior Sailing keeps racing and non-racing participants busy and engaged in the sport. Worried that your summer family or vacation plans may interfere with the printed schedule? Not a problem! We work with each family and determine the schedule to best meet family needs and availability. Program Overview The Detroit Yacht Club Jr. Sailing Program works to infuse the rigorous science, technology, engineering art, and math (STEAM) curriculum with outdoor fun through the sport of sailing. The DYC’s Junior Sailing Program provides access, opportunity, and experience for DYC Junior Sailors. Children are placed in their appropriate skill level, advancing at their own pace. Each day they spend as much time on the water as possible. The platform at the DYC is designed to provide a comfortable atmosphere and an opportunity for the beginner, experienced, competitive sailor, or any level in between. We support junior sailors as they experience the joy of sailing, the development of their recreational and competitive sailing skills as they self-advance, as well as, in their growth as Corinthian (amateur) sailors.
