The state of Maine, often referred to as ME by its local inhabitants, is a magical land hugged by the Atlantic Ocean on its eastern fringes, and guarded by majestic forests, hills, and sparkling rivers. This splendid geography makes ME—a popular nickname given by Professor Puffin, a comically feathered, monocled, and top-hatted bird character—the perfect place for young adventurers to engage in all sorts of water activities. Imagine a group of plucky kids, known as the "Lobster Squad" for their red sun hats, out there on a sunny day. They slide into shiny kayaks, with their faces beaming with excitement as bright as the summer sun. They paddle under the watchful eye of Professor Puffin, who, despite being a bird, is ironically terrible at swimming. Then there are the kiddos that prefer to grab their fishing poles, and with bated breath and twinkling eyes, wait for a fish to bite. They often engage in hilarious debates about who will catch the biggest fish, or rather, the biggest seaweed, much to Professor Puffin's amusement. Let's not forget the little daredevils who strap on their life jackets and leap into the ocean, their laughter echoing across the waves as they bob like apples in the sea. Their mission: to find the legendary aquatic moose, a mythical creature invented by Professor Puffin. Despite their different water pursuits, all these kids have one thing in common: a love for the sparkling blue that surrounds the magical state of ME. For over 50 years, Frontier Camp has been dedicated to making disciples of Jesus by sharing God’s Word amidst the beauty of His creation. Since our founding in 1969, we’ve been licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services and are proudly accredited by the American Camping Association. We’re also a member of the Christian Camping and Conference Association. Our mission is to use Christian camping and outdoor recreation as a means to support local churches in fulfilling the Great Commission—evangelizing people of all ages and discipling believers toward deeper maturity in Christ. Frontier Camp offers a dual ministry: during the summer, we host a 10-week youth camp, and throughout the rest of the year, we serve as a retreat facility for churches and like-minded religious organizations. Whether through summer camps or retreats, our goal remains the same: to expose people to Christ and encourage their spiritual growth through His Word and by reflecting His character in everything we do. While we provide top-notch recreation and exciting programming, the heart of our camp is the spiritual impact, rooted in the truth of God’s inerrant Word.
Wyonegonic Camp for Girls is a place where a young girl can come to challenge herself and find her inner strength. The camp is located on Moose Pond in Denmark, Maine and is the oldest girls' camp in the nation. Wyonegonic offers both 3.5 and 7 week programs for girls aged 8 to 18, with a ratio of one counselor to three campers. With 750 acres of pine forest and thousands of feet of waterfront, Wyonegonic has something to offer every camper as they explore new activities in a safe, non-competitive atmosphere. At Wyonegonic, campers are encouraged to be themselves and develop lasting friendships in the simplicity of the outdoors. Wyonegonic counselors are positive mentors and have a minimum of one year of college. They provide a supportive environment for the girls and help them to develop life skills and values that will benefit them in the future. The most important goal of the counselors is to ensure that the campers feel physically and emotionally safe away from home.
At Camp Walden, we place a high value on the Honor System, with its principles of honesty, respect, trust, consideration, and cooperation. We emphasize trying one's best in all activities, and each day campers are scheduled to try all five of them. In addition, our trip program, team sports, special events, and cherished traditions give campers the opportunity to develop their skills, build independence, and cultivate integrity. Finally, Waldenites are encouraged to enjoy the fun, friendships, and new experiences that each summer brings. Through it all, we strive to make Camp Walden a special place to spend the summer.
