Wyonegonic, located on Moose Pond in Denmark, Maine is the oldest girls’ camp in the nation. Wyonegonic is a traditional residential camp offering three and half and seven week programs in the summer for approximately 200 age eight through eighteen year old campers. Campers challenge themselves with new activities in a non-competitive and safe atmosphere. Wyonegonic is a place to learn values and life skills that will help a camper thrive in today’s world. Wyonegonic is not designed to give answers but to offer opportunities. A child has the freedom to be herself while developing friendships in the simplicity of the outdoors. Wyonegonic owns 750 acres of pine forest and thousands of feet of waterfront, ensuring privacy and program space
The ratio of counselors to campers is 1:3. Wyonegonic is fortunate to have many of our counselors and supervisory staff return each year. Counselors are positive mentors and have a minimum of one year of college. Counselors are encouraged to help the girls develop their positive qualities and assist them as they gain confidence. The most important responsibility for a cabin counselor is the awareness of each camper’s needs and to help them feel physically and emotionally safe away from home.
