LEARN TO SKATE

The Woburn Youth Hockey Learn-to-Skate Basic level teaches the fundamentals of ice skating and provides a solid foundation for recreational ice skating or hockey. In this program, participants are introduced to forward and backward skating, stops, edges, crossovers, and turns. These classes are intended for children aged 4 and above who have completed the Woburn Youth Hockey Beginner level program or who have prior skating experience and do not require the use of a skating aid. Upon successful completion of the Basic program, the participants will be ready for the Woburn Youth Hockey Mite City League program.

The WYH program is designed to teach and develop hockey skills at all times emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship, fair play, teamwork, and responsibility in the overall context of having fun.

CHALLENGER

The challenger program was put in place over ten years ago for children with disabilities. The program is more of a free skate, but the children do use sticks and pucks. Our volunteers are Woburn Youth Hockey players who volunteer their time (ages 11 and up).
