The driving force behind Professor Bugman’s STEM Adventures is none other than our very own, Dr. Sarah Smith, a leader in the field of Entomology and a graduate of the University of Massachusetts. After being awarded a Bachelor of Science in Plant, Soil, and Insect Science in 2009, she went on to complete a Master of Entomology at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. With a career in research academia, Dr. Smith has always been passionate about inspiring the younger generations to explore the wonders of science and to become the great scientists of tomorrow.

Our events are versatile and flexible to fit your needs.  Whether it's a small bunch of young learners coming to your library for an hour of insect fun, or several full-size classes of 5th graders throughout a fully-booked day, we've got you covered!

Professor Bugman

Professor Bugman is a great addition to the Athol Public Library.
Even the most cautious people become brave and inquisitive bug catchers thanks to his engaging and approachable teaching style and passion for insects!
His natural interactions with the kids reveal his background as a child educator.
If you're looking for a program to draw more visitors, this is a great option because our Insect Safari had a long waitlist.
We eagerly anticipate our upcoming lecture with Professor Bugman!

We had Professor Bugman stay with us for a week, and he did a great job planning a schedule that allowed campers to explore a wide range of topics during their time in nature.
We also enjoyed visiting the zoo of exotic insects!
