About Waltham Recreation Department in Waltham, MA
The Waltham Recreation Department is dedicated to providing the highest quality programs for the city’s diverse population. An array of sports and leisure activities are available, encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle for all.
The department is also responsible for the planning and construction of playgrounds, water play facilities, athletic fields and other park improvements. All of the city’s parks and recreational areas are managed and maintained under their guidance.

Summer Program
Children entering grades one through six in September can attend Summer Fun. The program will be held at Prospect Hill Park, 314 Totten Pond Road.
We will enjoy hours of sports, arts and crafts, games, and many other fun outdoor activitiess. We will also be doing spray park time (please see below for what to bring).

Inclusive Recreation Programs
Inclusive recreation programs offer opportunities for individuals to socialize and participate together in non-threatening environments and activities. Inclusive recreation takes place when individuals of all abilities participate in a recreational activity together in an attempt to decrease barriers to leisure by utilizing adaptations and programming accommodations. The benefits of inclusive recreation are not limited to the individuals with disabilities. Individuals without disabilities benefit from inclusive recreation as well.

Little Sprouts
This outdoor, caregiver‐and‐me program celebrates springtime on the farm. Little Sprouts provides a structured, hands‐on environment that encourages you and your little ones to learn about the farm and the food it produces through projects, play, and movement. Children and adults participate in a range of activities together including planting vegetables, exploring the compost pile, observing wildlife, playing games, making natural art, singing songs, reading interactive books, going on scavenger hunts, harvesting veggies and herbs, collecting eggs in the coop and cuddling rabbits in the springtime garden.
