At Carousel School, we strive to provide an educational experience tailored to our students’ individual needs. Our curriculum and activity programming are designed to meet the needs of both general education and alternate curriculum students. Our comprehensive educational services are intended to support all children and their families, while extracurricular activities like art, dance, social skills groups, and physical education provide additional opportunities for growth and development. We’re dedicated to helping our students reach their fullest potential.
Carousel's After-School Program offers a balanced curriculum in which social and recreational activities are designed to promote the physical, social, emotional, and creative development of each child. The After-School Program serves children ages 5-18 at two locations in the Los Angeles area, Sophia T. Salvin Special Education Center & Carousel Non-Public School.

Occupational Therapy
At Carousel, we empower and support our students to develop the skills necessary for daily activities. Our team of occupational therapists provides individual, consultative, clinic, and classroom based services tailored to fit the individual needs of the child and family. We teach and support skill development from the time they hang up their coat in the morning to when they put it back on at the end of the day. With our team, the school environment provides many developmental learning opportunities focused on each child’s skill development. We also provide the family with resources for continuing these opportunities, or others, at home. Our occupational therapists collaborate with the classroom teachers and parents to design the most therapeutically effective programs for clinic, school, and home.

Speech and Language Therapy
Our Speech and Language team evaluates students, designs treatment protocols, and executes therapy plans tailored to the individual student’s needs. Therapy can be in a one-to-one or group setting. Therapists collaborate with educational staff to generalize skills from the therapy room back to the classroom.
Students attending the Early Intervention Program receive therapy through play-based and structured activities, with opportunities to generalize skills in the classroom through language-based centers. Therapists focus on the early development of receptive language, expressive language, and phonological therapy, along with the development of attention and listening, play, interaction and social skills. Feeding and oral motor consultation is also available. Therapists often work with families to explore how to facilitate language at home.
