At Island Children’s School, we see children as a whole being. Therefore we provide opportunities to develop their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive awareness.
Starting a school for her own children, Joan Lester opened our doors in 1969 with the help of Linda McCarthy. In true Vineyard style, the school was nomadic, moving from place to place around the island.

Programs
PRESCHOOL 1
Our Preschool 1 classroom for children from 2.9 through 4 years of age, is centered around imaginative play with a strong focus on social emotional growth.
PRESCHOOL 2
Our Preschool 2 classroom focuses on the older child who is preparing for kindergarten. Carefully designed environments and richly constructed activities allow our students to explore the world around them, build relationships and make decision that help guide them towards a lifelong love of learning.
