About Little People Nursery School in Templeton, MA

At LPNS, we believe that play is an essential part of the learning process for children. By providing purposeful activities, we give children the opportunity to be engaged in the learning process, using all of their senses to gain knowledge and experience. We understand that a balance between active and quiet activities, small and large group activities, and self-directed and teacher-directed activities is essential in order to foster a rich learning environment. Our teachers plan activities that can be adapted to the individual needs and interests of each child. Through this approach, we create a safe and nurturing environment that encourages children to be independent and gain a sense of accomplishment.

INFANTS & TODDLER CARE

LPNS offers care for Infants 1 month to 15 months old and Toddlers 15 months to 2 years 9 months in a mixed age, high quality, loving environment. BABIES We believe in a flow from home life to school life for infants. We make sure that already established feeding and napping schedules are respected and accommodated. Daily journaling with parents assures consistent and clear communication. Babies grow and play in a room specially designed for their exploration (and safety). All infants are given ample space to roll, crawl and build necessary muscles inside and out! We pay extra attention to the relationships between caregiver and child. We provide a nurturing and respectful atmosphere that encouraged growth through trust and love.

PRESCHOOL

We are a play based center. A play based curriculum is the most common educational approach found in American Preschools and reflects a mix of free play and more structured small group play guided by a teacher. Play based learning focuses on providing developmentally appropriate opportunities for learning complemented by “hands on” practices. A child’s social emotional development is also supported and fostered through conflict resolution and emotional intelligence skill sets. Learning though play presents opportunities to: Gain Independence Make Choices and Decisions Interact with One Another Build Language and Literacy Skills Discover Mathematical Properties Explore Art Properties We love hands on experiences - children use real items from their environment to manipulate and process through their senses
