Design Your Fairytale: Stagecrafting Class

How is theatre made? How does an artist take a story from written-on-a-page to played-out-on-a-stage? This course is a glimpse into that process, and you’re in the producer’s chair! Beginning with source material drawn from classic fairytales, each young artist will take their own story through the design process by working their piece through each of the major areas of theatrical design: costume, scenery, sound, lighting, props, and more. Focusing on a particular element each class, the artists will collaborate to solve design challenges and bring their stories to life on stage. The course will conclude with a symposium-style exhibition in our gallery where the artists will present their designs to invited guests. If you’re an artist in grades 1-8 who loves to sketch, craft, create, and design; this course is for you!
