About YMCA Camp Burgess and Hayward in Sandwich, MA
For over 90 years, South Shore YMCA Camp Burgess & Hayward has been a leader in Massachusetts camping. Located just one hour south of Boston in Sandwich, Massachusetts, the camps are situated on 300 acres of lush forests, meadows, and freshwater ponds. Camp Burgess offers one and two-week sessions for boys ages 7 to 16. Campers will enjoy a variety of activities such as exploring the property, going on adventures, participating in the ropes course and climbing tower, learning outdoor living skills, building projects, and playing games on the courts and fields. Camp Hayward provides one and two-week sessions for girls ages 7 to 16. Here, girls gain independence and build community while developing self-confidence and self-respect. Activities include waterfront activities, creative arts, sports, performing arts, and singing in the dining hall.

Camp Burgess for Boys
Camp Burgess is an overnight camp that offers one and two-week sessions for boys ages 7 to 16. Founded in 1928, Burgess is located on beautiful Spectacle Pond, Cape Cod, across from our sister Camp Hayward, which started in 1960. Our brother-sister structure allows Burgess campers to benefit from an all-boy environment while also experiencing safe and positive opportunities for co-ed social interaction.

Camp Hayward for Girls
Located on Cape Cod surrounded by beautiful Spectacle Pond, Camp Hayward has been an overnight camp of the South Shore Y since 1960. Offering one and two week sessions for girls ages 7 to 16, Camp Hayward is located across the pond from Camp Burgess. Our brother-sister structure allows Hayward campers to benefit from an all-girl environment while also experiencing safe and positive opportunities for co-ed social interaction.

Co-Ed Week
During the last week of the summer, we offer a five day co-ed program that takes place at Camp Hayward. This week is jam packed with some of the best events of the summer: Dance, all camps, coed day, cookout.
