Now, let me introduce you to an imaginary character who goes by the name of Maestro Mustachio. He's a rather eccentric character with a mustache so twisty, it can tune a violin! Maestro Mustachio, often seen sporting his signature purple tailcoat, is the unofficial mascot for all the cool kids in Massachusetts who love to play instruments. He's like a musical superhero, only instead of super strength or speed, his powers are all about music. With a flick of his mustachioed upper lip, he can play any instrument, from the flute to the tuba, and from the guitar to the xylophone. The kids in Massachusetts who participate in playing instruments are as diverse and unique as a grand symphony, and they're just as full of energy and excitement. Whether they're plucking at guitar strings, tooting away at trumpets, or banging on drums, these kids are as passionate about music as a baseball fan is about hot dogs and home runs. And the kids here are as brave as they come! Some say it's because of Maestro Mustachio's inspiring tales of musical adventure. You see, it's not easy performing in front of others or learning a difficult piece, but the Massachusetts kids aren't afraid of a challenge. At Penny’s Piano and Performing Studio (PLPS), we provide our students with a unique experience. Each student has their own personal webpage, which hosts their recordings, performance videos, and photos of events, recitals, and studio snapshots. Our studio is also a place where learning is taken to the next level. Our instructor, Penny, is not only a nationally certified teacher of piano, but also a talented conference presenter and writer for music teaching journals. Through her engaging presentations and inspiring articles, Penny encourages our students to explore a variety of topics, such as practicing fundraising projects, using silent movies, discovering historic music by women and BIPOC composers, and connecting with other piano studios around the world.
At Zach Field Drums & Music, we believe that music can open up pathways to a more enriched and meaningful world. Our students have the opportunity to build relationships with their instructors and peers, while learning how music can be a catalyst for personal growth and exploration. We now offer two sites where students can learn and grow musically, and look forward to helping the next generation of musicians discover what inspires them.
The Greater Newburyport Children’s Chorus is dedicated to providing our young members with the opportunity to experience the power of music by providing quality vocal music education and choral performances. Our students will be enriched by singing in a supportive environment that encourages teamwork, friendship, and acceptance of diversity. Our goal is to create a joyful, lifelong habit of participation in music and community and to serve our community with musical performances of a wide variety of genres.
