About Penny Lazarus Piano Studio

At Penny’s Piano and Performing Studio (PLPS), we provide our students with a unique experience. Each student has their own personal webpage, which hosts their recordings, performance videos, and photos of events, recitals, and studio snapshots. We invite you to explore the webpage of one of our students, Mia, and get a glimpse of the amazing things our students can accomplish! Our studio is also a place where learning is taken to the next level. Our instructor, Penny, is not only a nationally certified teacher of piano, but also a talented conference presenter and writer for music teaching journals. Through her engaging presentations and inspiring articles, Penny encourages our students to explore a variety of topics, such as practicing fundraising projects, using silent movies, discovering historic music by women and BIPOC composers, and connecting with other piano studios around the world.

Penny’s Education and Training
I have taught students in every age group, including adults. I am certified in Kindermusik and have training in Suzuki Piano, eurhythmics, and voice. I am a certified middle school social science teacher and I have been a college professor in art history. I’m a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers, the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), and the National Association for the Teaching of Singing (NATS) and I am also a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM). I am the alto section leader and a board member of the Newburyport Choral Society. I travel regularly in summer with Berkshire Choral International (BCI) and my playing can be heard in the Super Score App by TimeWarp technologies under Penny Lazarus Publications.
